Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word 97-2003 or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is typed with 1.5 line spacing; font size of 14 points is used; all illustrations, graphs and tables are located in appropriate places in the text, as well as in the form of separate attached files (.tif, .jpg, .cdr), or graphs in Excel.

Author Guidelines

The international journal «Hepatology and Gastroenterology» is included in the list of peer-reviewed scientific journals recommended by the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles of the Republic of Belarus.
The requirements of the editorial staff, applicable to the publication format of articles, comply with the guidelines of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) http://www.icmje.org and meet the journal selection criteria for inclusion into the Scopus database.
1. The article should be typed on one side of paper with 1.5 line spacing. Margins: the top and the bottom are 2.0 cm, the left margin is 3.0 cm, the right – 1.5 cm. The text should be typed in Microsoft Word 97 and newer editor (file extension: .doc) using the standard Times New Roman font, 14-point type (14 pt), centered alignment.
The volume of original articles should be up to 12 pages, including figures, tables, and list of references. The volume of scientific reviews and lectures – up to 15 pages, of other publications - 9 pages. The volume of scientific articles containing results of dissertation research (Decree of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus No.3 from February 28, 2014) should be not less than 0.35 author's sheets (14,000 characters with spaces).
The article should contain a signature of the supervisor and have the following attachments: expert’s report and reference of the institution in which the work has been performed (covering documents with the signature of the supervisor and a seal may be scanned and sent to the editorial office by e-mail.) with indication whether the article is scheduled, unscheduled or whether it is a part of the dissertation (the applicant's name should be specified). The participation of each author in the article is also to be indicated.
2. The structure of the text of the article should be as follows: UDC (Universal Decimal Classification), title of the article (maximum 10-12 words without abbreviations), surname and initials of the authors, e-mail address of each author, the institution where the research has been carried out, city, country (both in the Russian and English languages).
3. The article should be preceded by an abstract (no more than 1,500 characters including spaces). The abstract should be structured and include the following sections: background, objective, materials and methods, results, conclusion, keywords (from 3 to 9), conflict of interests. The key words should include the terms from the text of the article, determining its subject matter according to Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) but shouldn’t duplicate the article title (https://www.nlm.nih.gov/mesh – in the English language; https://rucml.ru/pages/mesh – in Russian).
4. The text of the article should include the following elements: introduction (no more than 1.5 pages), objective, materials and methods (with a description of the statistical methods and statistical software used for processing the research results), results and discussion (do not repeat data of figures and tables), conclusions, the participation of each author in the article, conflict of interests for all authors (in case of its absence it should be indicated: “conflict of interests is absent”), patient informed consent (for the articles with author’s research and description of case reports), in case of funding - the source should be mentioned (grant, etc.), acknowledgement (this part isn’t an obligatory one), references, references in transliteration.
5. Use the International System of Units and international nonproprietary name. Abbreviations are not allowed, except for common abbreviations of chemical and mathematical variables, measures, terms.
6. Illustrative material should be emailed in separate files (.tif, .jpg, .cdr), graphs in Excel. Captions to illustrative material and tables should be both in Russian and English. An example of a caption to a table:

Numerical data in tables, graphs and charts should be verified by the author and correspond to those in the text. It is necessary to indicate numerical data place and number (if they aren’t included in the electronic version of the article).
7. In clinical and experiment-based articles the reference to the compliance to the principles of experimental and clinical bioethics should be specified in the Materials and Methods section
8. Each original article should end in a list of bibliographic references (do not exceed 25 sources, for clinical reviews do not exceed 50 sources), in order of mention in the text. Bibliographical description of the cited references should be in accordance with the requirements for the thesis works issued by the Higher Certifying Commission of the Republic of Belarus (Order of the Higher Certifying Commission of the Republic of Belarus from 08.09.2016 № 206).
According to the requirements of international systems of citation the authors of the articles have to present references in the original language and in Latin alphabet (transliterated from Cyrillic alphabet to Latin alphabet). English references are identical to the ones transliterated to Latin alphabet. Detailed instructions for compiling References are available for download at: http://library.grsmu.by/docs/RRes.pdf.
9. The article may be written in Belarusian, Russian, English and other European Languages. The article is published in the language of the original manuscript.
10. At the end of the article (paper or electronic scan) should be signed by all authors. Author, who is responsible for correspondence, presents the following information: each author’s first name and last name, place of work or study and address; telephone / fax number and e-mail address of the author, who is responsible for correspondence, each author’s digital identifier (Open Researcher and Contributor ID). To get digital identifier ORCID register on the website https://orcid.org/. Contact information is provided in the English and Russian languages.
11. The two copies of the article and supporting documents may be presented in paper form to the editorial office (230009, Grodno, ul.Gorkogo,80. Grodno State Medical University, journal editorial office “Hepatology and Gastroenterology”, to Chernyak S.A.). There has to be an electronic version of the article, which has to be sent by e-mail to hepatogastroenter@mail.ru with a mark “The article to the journal “Hepatology and Gastroenterology”, the first author’s surname has to be indicated.
Submission of the previously published works or works already accepted for publication in other editions is unacceptable. The articles which do not meet “The requirements and norms of humane treatment with biological objects of studies” are not accepted for publication.
The editorial staff reserves the right to shorten and edit the published materials.
In case the authors do not follow the above mentioned requirements the manuscripts are not accepted.
Publishing of the articles is free.
12. The editorial board takes charges (non-cash payment) for publishing articles involving any kind of advertisement after prior agreement with the publisher.
